Understanding Pool Cages and Pool Enclosures in Florida

If you’re a pool owner in the Sunshine State, it’s likely that you’ve heard about pool enclosures. They are an essential feature for any swimming pool, especially given Florida’s unique climate.

Pool Cage Restoration

Overview and Benefits of Pool Enclosures

A pool enclosure, also known as a pool cages, is designed to shield your outdoor swimming area from unwanted elements. But they offer more than just protection; they provide several other benefits too.

The first big advantage? Reduced maintenance. Pool cages keep out debris like leaves and insects so you’ll spend less time cleaning up and more time enjoying your swim. Plus, with reduced exposure to sunlight thanks to screen mesh or glass panels used in the construction of these enclosures, there will be less algae growth in your pool.

An added bonus is privacy – who wouldn’t love their own private oasis right at home?

Let’s not forget UV protection either. A good-quality enclosure can block up to 50% of harmful UV rays which means fewer sunburns while still letting you enjoy sunny days by the water.

Diving Deeper into The Benefits: Extending Your Swimming Season & Reducing Heating Costs

In addition to all this goodness we’ve talked about already – here comes my personal favorite part – extending the swimming season. An enclosed space keeps heat trapped inside making early morning dips much warmer even during those cooler months when temperatures dip below what Floridians consider “swimming weather”. And if that isn’t enough reason for joy then let me throw another stat at ya’– according to HomeGuide reports,”A well-constructed cage can reduce heating costs significantly”.

Types of Pool Enclosures

Moving on, let’s dive into the different types of pool enclosures available to homeowners in Florida. Broadly speaking, we have screen enclosures, glass enclosures and retractable ones.

Screened pool cages, also known as “pool screen enclosure”, are the most common type you’ll see around here. They’re great because they give plenty of protection from pesky bugs.

Key Takeaway:

Florida pool owners, listen up. Pool cage enclosures not only protect your swimming area from debris but also reduce maintenance, provide privacy and offer UV protection. Bonus points for extending your swim season and lowering heating costs too. From screen to glass or retractable – there’s a type that suits everyone.

We are soooo fortunate to have found ScreenIT. They did an outstanding job on our pool cage....the envy of our neighborhood. They know how to engineer and build a cage that is aesthetically pleasing and more importantly one that will last. The whole team was a pleasure to work with AND they got the job done in the timeline they provided. How often does that happen. Don't hesitate to reach out to ScreenIT...you will not be disappointed.

We had rats in the neighborhood. We were going to install a kick plate and chair rail to secure our pool cage. We were not happy with that as we had that installation at our prior home and thought it looked cheap and didn’t hold up well.

I googled “best rat barrier for pool cage” and found screenIt in southwest Florida. After several discussions with the owner, exchanging pictures of their solution and getting a quote, we agreed to move forward.

Even though I was in NE Florida and there was a 6 hour drive, our installer arrived in less than a week from my initial call. The installation took about 8 hours and was flawless. No mess or unexpected issues. We are so happy with the end product and would highly recommend screenIt. See photos below.

ScreenIT did an amazing job removing our old pool cage and installing a new one. The quality of the materials they use is excellent and over-engineered to withstand the Florida environment. Their installation workmanship and professionalism is outstanding. We never thought we needed "Picture Window" framing, but now that we have it we would not want to live without it. ScreenIT's post installation support is also excellent. They have been quick to address any minor issues that popped up after install.

All in all, a great experience.
